Calling all musicians in New Orleans!

Welcome to the New Orleans Music Project.

I created this project in order to preserve the musical heritage of New Orleans. Please feel free to comment on the photos, video and audio content.

Here is a local New Orleans Band "the Space Heaters" shot that I took at the studio this weekend.










They were a little skeptical when we were shooting as to the creative direction of the shot. We shot at Nolaphoto studios on David drive in Metairie. Our first shoot was in the studio on a traditional studio gray background. Basically a formation shot that wasn't working for me. plus there was not a good way to incorporate the instruments they play.

Early on , I took notice that they were all wearing suits(albeit uncomfortably for some) and I had an inspiration for the shot. We have a conference table for meeting with clients and I thought that they looked like a group of gangsters so I proposed that we set up the table with the instruments. As I grouped them Todd Credeur would be my mob boss, Bruce was "the Muscle" Ian, Brian, Travis, and Floyd would be the consiglieri for the shot. Once the lighting was arranged everything fell into place. It was nice to hear from the band that their shot was not a cliche band shot with a brick wall and a railroad nearby.
